The EBA's training path to becoming a Payments Expert

The EBA offers different paths to reaching the EBA's "Payments Expert" accreditation, depending on your payments expertise. Both paths are based on credits earned:

EBA payments training plus accreditation test

If you already have a minimum of three years of demonstrable payments experience, you can complete the EBA Academy training and then take the accompanying exam in the month after your training. Together, this will give you 70 credits.

The exam is a multiple choice test that is provided online and needs to be completed within 60 minutes. You can decide when to start your test.

The accreditation via the exam costs EUR 500, in addition to the EBA Academy training fee.

EBA payments training plus further schools

If you do not have the necessary work experience mentioned above, you can earn credits by attending a combination of training courses, schools and seminars. You will need to accumulate 70 credits to earn the "Payments Expert" accreditation without completing the exam.

Credits will not expire, enabling you to complete your educational path at your own pace. The EBA Academy is the key foundation course with 30 credits and is required for accreditation. The EBA Summer or Winter Schools will give you 20 credits each (minimum one is required for accreditation), and the Global Seminar or the Advanced Liquidity and Cash Management module will earn you 10 credits each. This allows for a varied choice of courses to arrive at 70 credits.

Overview of credits

Type Credits earned upon completion
EBA Academy (required for accreditation) 30
EBA Summer or Winter School 20
EBA Global Seminar 10
EBA Advanced Liquidity and Cash Management module 10
Accreditation exam 40

Example: after completing the EBA Academy training, the delegate must either attend the EBA Summer or Winter School, or can attend both to arrive immediately at 70 credits. Alternatively, the delegate can attend two EBA Global Seminars instead of either an EBA Summer or Winter School to arrive at 70 credits.
